Huge congratulations to our second graders who celebrated and shared their learning tonight at our expedition showcase.
To start off, they shared poetry and music from the arts expedition on poetry. In spite of some absences, they persevered and picked up the lines of their friends who were not there.
Following the arts performance, students shared the narrative of our expedition, which they wrote in small, collaborative groups. Ms. Henighan hosted tours of the rain garden that we built in Saturday. Finally, we went to the classrooms for students to share months of hard work. For the past week, they put together process boards showing the work that led to their learning and products. Tonight, they showed that they are truly experts on water pollution in Rock Creek as they explained pervious pavement, combined sewer overflow, the water cycle, and stormwater runoff.
Thank you to all who supported our expedition by acting as experts, driving to and from Rock Creek, typing paragraphs, and chaperoning fieldwork.
Have a restful winter break. See you January 6.
