Our students have been reading and writing poetry since we returned from winter break. They learned to think of a big feeling, find a small moment, detail, or object that captures it, and to write a poem that evokes that feeling. They have constantly revised their poems, adding line breaks, words that mean exactly what they want to say, repetition, and patterns.
After finishing our weather poster presentations, we began our study of the seasons. Starting last week, students in both classes worked in groups to plan their part of the seasons mural that will span the walls between both classrooms.
Join us on Wednesday, February 19 from 12:30 to 1:15 for a poetry reading and mural opening to celebrate their tremendous work.
And best of luck to our friends who are presenting their poems at the American Poetry Museum Center for Poetic Thought this Sunday at 2:00!
