Spring Fieldwork at Rock Creek

Sometimes our second grade friends write guest blog posts to share about their experiences. Today’s guest blogger is Marlon.

At Capital City, our class went to Rock Creek in groups.  And we were there to look around and see what looked different from when we visited last time. And we wrote what we saw in Rock Creek.

We went to Rock Creek because we are learning about pollution in Rock Creek, the Anacostia River, and the Potomac River because the rivers are getting bad and dirty from people who put trash and chemicals in the storm drains.  When people don’t pick up the trash they left on the ground, it will go to the storm drain and go to Rock Creek, the Anacostia River, and the Potomac River. When you use the bathroom, it will go to the soil pipe, go to the sewer, and when it rains to much, the pipe will overflow and some of it will go to those three rivers.

We noticed at Rock Creek that the trees were green and the ground was green.  We saw more rocks.  More people went to play at Rock Creek Park and the flowers were growing and coming out.
